This is for blues based songs. Not necessarily the sound you want to "punch up" a ballad in E major. The "blues bend" you describe at 3:50 is the same idea as hammering on the G at the 1st fret, the minor 3rd to the major 3rd. If you need this video you may need someone to dress you.

It looks like sometimes when you slide up to the 3rd and 4th fret on the b and g strings that you are also catching the 5th fret of the D string (making a G note which fits with the Em) are you?

I have practiced a lot of Jack White / White Stripes songs. Many of these turn arounds you are showing us show up in his music and of course many other artists. My flying fingers have settled down, I had real trouble with the flying pinky especially with the slide on my ring finger but that is better now. Thanks for the gold mine of RUclips, FGA and our private lessons that helped me out so very much.
